V6 to VHS

A friend of mine has recently upgraded from TiVo to V6. He used to be able to transfer content from the TiVo onto a connected VHS recorder and then make video compilation tapes, which he then passed on to an elderly relative. I know VHS is an old fashioned format, but this is the method he would prefer to continue using.

He is wondering if it is possible to still make VHS recordings from the V6 box (obviously, there's no SCART connection on the new box).

Looking at similar posts, it appears that he would need to purchase an HDMI to SCART converter. He also wants to be able to see what he's playing from the V6 box, on the TV screen, as he transfers it onto VHS. Does he need an HDMI splitter to do this? (I've seen some "1 in, 2 out" splitters on Amazon / eBay).

Also, I've read somewhere that the V6 has built in copy protection, which presumably would prevent any copying onto VHS in the first instance?

Any advice would be gratefully welcomed.

Many thanks,

Lee
