V6 box unable to conect to wifi. -POOR support.

Hello community need your help on this one.

I have two virgin v6 boxes (both couple of years old). They have never missed a beat. One upstairs and one downstairs.

The box upstairs has all of a sudden had connextion issues and I Have white arrows flashing on the box itself. Password is correct it just doesn't establish a connection.

Box downstairs also running on wifi and no problems with it.

Support are telling me the box is too far away and never worked on wifi before i must be lieing.

To get round the issue they want me to install additional hardware (boosters).

Why do I need additional HW when It worked previously for years????

Please help /advise. Thanks

Re: V6 box unable to conect to wifi. -POOR support.

It might be the "smart wifi" on the Hub thats causing it, instructions on how to disable it is below:

Will give it a go. Not sure on this one though as my other box is connected fine obviously to the same HUB

Hi

Unfortunately this did not work.

Surely it must be a fault with the box?

Hey woolz,

Thank you for your post.

Sorry to hear of the connection issues you're having at the moment. I can see you have tried to complete the above to no avail. Not to worry, I would be able to look into this with you, would that be okay?

Cheers.

Re: V6 box unable to conect to wifi. -POOR support.

Swap the boxes round see I problem follows the one not connecting first. It also may be you are now getting interference from nearby WiFi on the same or close channels. Is your box connected to 2g or 5g channels etc

Re: V6 box unable to conect to wifi. -POOR support.

thanks Guys for your inputs - with many calls to Virgin we still did not manage to connect the second box to wifii.

Primary BOX is still OK with no connection issues.

i hesitantly installed the 'virgin boosters' just to see if it resolved the issue ( which it did) BUT i still cant understand why it was working previously on wifi.

i noticed a comment to swap the boxes over.... great idea i will try this today and report back.

Hi woolz

Can you let us know how the swap goes

If its still an issue then we will need to jump in and check a few things for you

Re: V6 box unable to conect to wifi. -POOR support.

strangely enough - once i installed the virgin media boosters, as commented above the box connected fine (Ethernet into the box)- but i have today prior to swapping the boxes over, turned off the wifii boosters just to test and the box continues to be connected direct to the HUB via wifi..

i am going to monitor for a few days to see the stability - very odd
