Re: V6 box just installed, volume function not working from new remote

To those who think this has anything to do with the TV you are using, it doesn't! The remote is not line of sight and cannot and does not control your TV, it controls the V6 box! (Yes, those One For All remotes did control your TV using infra red, and you inputted codes or taught the remote - that is NOT how these remotes work.) We have our V6 box connected to a 7 year old Philips TV via HDMI (audio is fed to powered speakers via the 3.5mm audio out port on the V6 box), but if we connected the V6 box to a monitor, the same problem would occur. This issue is something to do with the Virgin/TiVO remote and the V6 box itself, period.

Re: V6 box just installed, volume function not working from new remote

Just got V6 box and set up fine apart from being sent wrong connector cable to Hub (seems a common fault but saw something here about using old one which worked fine). Only thing was the volume/mute issue with controller and tried every fix VIrgin suggest and didn’t work. Then saw this comment about Samsung which I have tried 0365 and it worked!!! Cheers, saved a lot more time wasted. 👍

Re: V6 box just installed, volume function not working from new remote

Hi 62mcleveden

Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting.

I'm sorry to hear you had some issues with your service and the volume.

Our remotes need to be connected to the TV itself and each TV make comes with it's own set of codes. If you ever change your TV or have a replacement control sent out to you, this will need to be done again.

I have added the link that will get you the page for all makes of TV's and their codes, just click (here) for all the information on this.

Take care

Louise

Re: V6 box just installed, volume function not working from new remote

Have a  Samsung Smart TV and had new V6 box fitted today.

After Engineer had gone found that volumn and mute buttons did nothing.

Tried endlessly to recode the remote via help and settings without success.

Then saw advice from  Rubseyuk and within a couple of minutes code 0365 did the trick.

problem solved. Thanks Rubseyuk

Re: V6 box just installed, volume function not working from new remote

Getting your V6 remote to do volume control and standby on your TV is not easy to get working correctly if you follow the documentation that is supplied, but all is not lost, the following does work:

Programming your remote using a device code

If you’ve been unable to program your remote by searching for the correct code, you can also program the correct code into your remote from the device code list.

1. Make sure your TV and your Virgin TV V6 box are switched on
2. Find your make of TV and the 4 digit code(s) that match it here. If there‘s more than one code for your TV make, try the codes in the order listed, its a good ides to make sure that this open in a new tab/window https://assets.virginmedia.com/help/assets/documents/vm-tivo-code-list2012.pdf
3. Press and hold down Clear and TV at the same time, until the light on the top of the remote flashes green twice
4. Enter the four digit code for your TV's make from the list. The LED should then flash green twice. This shows you’ve entered a valid code
5. Press Volume Up / Down and Mute to check that the remote is working. If not, repeat the steps above using a different code for your TV from the list
6. Once you’ve programmed your remote you’ll notice that the light on the top will flash green instead of red when using it for volume and mute control

The remote can only store one device code type at a time, so you can’t control more than one TV, unless each TV works with the same code.

The automatic code search function rarely works correctly, but using the above method works, it can just take a few attempts to get the right code. My advice once you find the right code write it down on a small piece of paper, open the back of the V6 remote and put on top of the batteries.

You can't learn anything from a mistake until you admit that you've made it.

Re: V6 box just installed, volume function not working from new remote

Hi Buffy24.

Thanks for letting us know that step 3 on the previous post doesn't work. Just want to ask if how are things looking since your last post?

Come back to us so we can look into it further.
