Unable to stream V6 box to my iPhone

Hi

I’m unable to watch TV channels on my iPhone, iPad and Kindle Fire

We have 2 V6 boxes. One in the lounge and the other in the bedroom.

I’ve gone through the process of trying to set up the streaming device via the Virgin TV app on my phone but it won’t go through the 3 stages to get set up. The 3 stages show but are greyed out and nothing happens.

I’ve unplugged the V6 box and also the hub and uninstalled and reinstalled the app but it makes no difference.

Some time back I did have this option to watch programmes on my iPhone but now the option is not there. I can’t put a date on when this happened, maybe 3 months and the only change that has happened in this time is that I got the second V6 box to replace the old one which is in the bedroom.

How can this be rectified please?

Try the Virgin TV Go app - that’s the one you need for Live TV and On Demand.

There are now two apps.

Virgin TV Go for Live TV and On Demand - can be used on WiFi or mobile data, home and away.

Virgin TV Control for managing TiVo and V6 and streaming recordings from V6 My Shows - can be used in WiFi or mobile data home or away, except for streaming recordings when you must be on the WiFi of the same home network as the V6.

You appear to have a problem with setting up streaming on this app to allow streaming access to your recordings.

I believe it’s being looked at by Virgin Media. It get referred to as the ‘precondition failed’ bug. Do a search and you’ll find others with the same issue.

I don’t suffer from it so can’t offer any further help.

I think you can identify it by going into settings in the Virgin TV Control app then into System Information and finding Precondition Failed, rather than Ready.

When I look at the System Information I can’t see anything or anywhere that says ‘precondition failed’. If it’s under Streaming Status that says ‘Ready’.

Go to settings in the app and try streaming setup again and see what you get. You should get this:

Yes that’s what comes up. I thought that because the 3 stages were grey’d out that it hadn’t actually been set up as I couldn’t watch TV on my phone via the Virgin TV app. As you mentioned to watch it on my iPhone I have to watch it through the Virgin TV Go app.

I think we’ve reached the answer to my question now.

That’s great.

Can you just confirm that you are able to stream a recording if you go to My Shows in the Virgin TV Control app as follows?
