The V6 runs the same software as the TiVo, but on a much more capable box with more recording tuners and with more streaming apps.
Amazon Prime is one of the apps that isn't available on TiVo but is on V6.
The buffering on Netflix could have a variety of causes, but using it on a V6 should certainly be a much better experience. One major difference between the two boxes is that the TiVo has an inbuilt 'net connection, whereas the V6 relies on a connection via your home-hub.
