Why is Sky News HD not available on all packages?

I Can watch in HD for free on YouTube, via the Sky News app on a Firestick or Google TV, but on Virgin I only have the SD version.

By now all channels should be HD.

Don't even get me started on UHD on Virgin.

In common with many Sky channels, Sky News HD is only in the maxit/full-house bundle and the SD variant is in a lower-tier.

Very much like Sky Sports only comes in SD as standard, your query can be directed at Sky just as much as it can VM.

Sky charges their own satellite customers to watch the channel in HD. Why shouldn’t they treat VM customers the same?
