Re: Recording to DVD from V6 box

you will always lose quality you are going from HDMI HD signal to an analog SD signal

Re: Recording to DVD from V6 box

Our picture back from the DVD recorder is pretty good as the recorder is the type that can "upscale" the picture to close on HD (1080p) quality, and the signal goes back to the TV from the recorder via an HDMI lead. Can you do that with your DVD recorder? Also, if your signal converter is similar to ours, there is a switch on it that can be flicked to accommodate the signal coming in - worth trying.

Re: Recording to DVD from V6 box

Works for me too.

Remember to set the switch on the converter to PAL or it won't work properly.

Picture quality is not good, but OK for archiving purposes.

Just to clarify, the 5V power lead for tne converter plugs into the USB socket of the V6 box.

To save having to re-configuring cables every time maybe consider a HDMI splitter?

Analogue recording outlets were provided before we had PVR's (devices with built in disks). When you consider that copyright holders have always resented this facility, the opportunity to get rid of it when digital came along was too big to resist, hence they are all disappearing.

Re: Recording to DVD from V6 box

Sky+ box has the facility (via scart). Its frustrating but there MUST be a way. Cheers.

Re: Recording to DVD from V6 box

Yes and so did that vintage of Virgin Media box, the V+.

Modern boxes don’t have SCART.
