Re: YouTube not working

cathaven

I'm having the same issue for the past several days. The YouTube front page opens fine, and I can open my subscribed channels list, but some videos (not all) simply refuse to play, and we're stuck watching a blank screen with 'loading...'. I've tried rebooting the box, which sometimes clears the problem, but only temporarily. Usually I get to watch just one of the problem videos, then it starts happening again. Once it has occurred, it gets steadily worse, and more and more videos won't load.

Was the reboot just a power cycle or did you follow the advice given by japitts in the original thread of,

Home > Help & Settings > Clear or restart

I had a very similar issue with the YT website earlier - certain videos refusing to play, others fine, and page refreshes had no effect.

Possibly completely unrelated, but also possibly a sign of issues on the YT platform - given your mention of this only happening the last few days.

I've had the same problem over the past few days. Some YouTube videos do not play. These videos do play if I access YouTube via my Blu-ray player instead of the V6 box.

I haven't seen any problems but I have a 360 box and I might not be trying to watching the same videos.

I rebooted my Tivo by unplugging it, waiting a while, then plugging it back in & waiting for it to reconnect. Following japitts's instructions was not possible, as there is no Clear or restart option in Help & Settings.
I should add that I have no problems watching videos on my laptop, via my browser, or on my Andriod tablet.
If it helps, at all, this is one of the videos I've had trouble with.

I have managed to make it play on my TV once, after restarting the box, but it, and quite a few others have failed since, even after a restart.

Are you sure it's a TiVo or V6 box, or do you have a 360 box, possibly upgraded from a V6. AFAIK japitts advice works on both of the TiVo powered boxes.

It's a Virgin TV V6 Box. I think I must've gone straight from Help & Settings to the Settings submenu, and missed the Clear/Restart option on the previous menu.
However, it doesn't look as if this is any different from unplugging the box at the mains, and plugging it back in. I'm trying it now. That video I previously specified still won't load.
I am happy to find out that I can restart the box with the remote at least.

Thanks for that. As I said on the thread you directed me to, it wouldn't be so bad if once you'd entered your pin, it stopped asking until you turned your box off.
