Also, as with all Pay TV providers, you cannot remove the unsubscribed channels.
The EPG is the providers "shop window" for all its channels, & channel providers have paid for these slots to be visible.
I have the same issue. I do not want to "change the channel numbers" (not sure why you thought that was the question). By creating a list of Favourite Channels which does not have unsubscribed channels included, the same thing is achieved as being able to "remove the unsubscribed channels".
What I and the original poster want is to make our list of Favourite Channels and having done that one-time operation, have the guide - showing only our selected Favourites - appear with the press of a single button, not have to select Guide and then a blue button and then select Favourites (i.e. three button presses).
(I've never had a Favourites list before but have now created one consisting of EVERY channel I subscribed to EXCEPT 100 Virgin Showcase. This way I get to see BBC 4 / 108 on the same page as BBC 1 /101 and do not have to page down in the guide to see what's on BBC 4 when I press Guide Except I do because the box resets itself every time I use it I just want my Favourite Channels to be the default guide display.)

You've added to quite an old thread with "I have the same problem" so I've moved your post to a new thread.
I can't tell whether you're asking a question, or highlighting a possible workaround, but the post you've quoted from nodrogd appears to have given correct advice.

You're correct - old thread, almost exactly a year old - I misread 2021 thinking it was this year and I was replying to a current thread. D'oh!
The post from nodrogd may contain correct information, but it did not address the actual 'exam question'. Hence why I made the comment I did.
I'd still like someone to address the requirement (a setting to make Favourites the default guide view) but I suspect the answer is "cannot be done".
<sigh>

The TiVo-software that drives TiVo & V6 boxes is - for the most part - incredibly mature and development now is extremely (if not completely, limited)
All of VM's development focus is now on the Horizon/360 platform, which I believe does offer very similar functionality to what you're looking for.

As I suspected - not available (and I never for a moment considered they might develop it as an option - I'm not that naive, especially where VM is concerned).
I'm afraid I won't take a 360 service if there is any way whatsoever to avoid it.
I have a very large number of recordings on my T6 hard drive and I gather these get wiped if one migrates one's T6 box to to 360.
I have no idea what Horizon is.
Hey-ho.

Horizon is the tech-name for what the marketers call 360, and yes - it's a completely different software platform.
A conversion to 360 does involve a V6 being reformatted - series links, recordings, the lot.

"A conversion to 360 does involve a V6 being reformatted - series links, recordings, the lot."
I wonder what the conversion rate is for existing customers? I'd imagine this to be a barrier for some. (Many?)
I can see new customers going with it, but there is never a time when I don't have something recorded on my disk that is no longer available via streaming, and that I have not yet got round to watching. And having looked up the alleged 'benefits' I'm not really sure I can see any that appeal to me, especially.
I have no desire to talk to my TV or Virgin box, do not want any allegedly 'personalised' recommendations (I am perfectly capable of researching and finding what's on that I may wish to see, and have no shortage of material, as evidenced by my very well-populated Tivo disk), I only watch in one room, on one TV, and I've already unsubscribed from HD channels to reduce the exorbitant cost for what was a large number of HD channels I never watched.
So I am not the target market, for sure. 😉
Anyway, that's all off-topic. Over and out.
