Press Blue for HD

Just noticed that I am now prompted to press blue to get the HD version of a channel if I select the SD version.  Nice improvement and long awaited.

Next step would be to have the option to select HD in set up and all the SD channels replaced with the HD equivalent. If I can watch HD I don’t need SD version.

Re: Press Blue for HD

Only a minority of channels are broadcast in both SD and HD, most are in SD.

Re: Press Blue for HD

Still over 100,000 customers with SD only boxes, so they are still needed.

OFCOM also insist that the local versions of BBC & ITV are carried on channels 101 & 103 for all customers.

Re: Press Blue for HD

The blue button option just appeared on the onscreen display Friday, must be in some roll out schedule? Someone might be able to confirm this.  It’s a good reminder if you go to the SD channel without thinking.

Ben confirmed this on several other threads including this one. We will all eventually get the update, which should also fix several other bugs.

Re: Press Blue for HD

A great feature but would be good if it did it for all channels with  SD/HD variants.

For example Sky Arts prompts the press blue for HD but E4 and Channel 4 don't. There are others that don't too.

Any ideas?

Re: Press Blue for HD

Some channels do not want it enabled due to regional adverts not being on the HD version.
