Loud ticking noise

Hi my box has started making a rather loud and irritating ticking noise. Goes off every few seconds.  Is it safe to be left on? Do I need a new box?

When you say it goes off, do you mean the box restarts? Or the noise stops?

Could it be the sound of a failing hard drive? If is, then yes - you'll need to report your fault and will likely need a new box.

No it doesn't go off. I mean the ticking sound goes off every few seconds. Is it safe to leave turned on?

Hi Alougher01,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for posting.

We are sorry to hear the box is making ticking sounds, I appreciate this must be annoying.

Which box is it please? Are all the vents on the box clear without obstruction?

We would recommend powering down the equipment prior to leaving the property or going to bed.

Thanks

Nat

Is it the box or the power adapter which is faulty? Until the fault is fixed I'd power off the box when not in use, and afterwards leave it on standby.
