Dolby digital 5.1sound breakup

I have a sonos beam which I have connected via an hdmi arc connection and then set the V6 box to Dolby digital and set the Samsung tv to hdmi sound input as bit stream and output as Dolby digital. This initially seemed to work but after so long there was sound breakup. This occurred both in a 5.1 transmission and when on 2 channel. I have currently returned to pcm until I have a solution.
