Changing source on TV using TiVo remote

Just received my upgrade to V6, a great improvement over the previous TiVo.

I have managed to setup everything as before, except finding out how to change source on TV using the new TiVo remote. On the old one I could use the text button, but this has now gone.

Any my ideas on a new button sequence to achieve the same?

Re: Changing source on TV using TiVo remote

I've found that holding down the 'TV' button for 2 seconds seems to activate the input select on my TV'

However the annoying thing is that my TV requires many multiple presses to cycle through all the inputs, and having this two second delay on each press makes it impractical as it takes too long.... easier to just grab the TV remote.

Re: Changing source on TV using TiVo remote

Thanks Saj. That worked really well. Seems to be slicker than the V1 TiVo as well.

Re: Changing source on TV using TiVo remote

Just had my first Virgin installation today. Thanks for the tips for standby and source selection. On my Sony TV once it goes into source selection you can just use the up/down arrows on the remote to select the required source.

Re: Changing source on TV using TiVo remote

Hi,

I know I'm replying to an old thread here, but incase it is any use to you in ditching your TV remote; I was able to select an input by using the directional keys on the virgin remote once the input/source menu appeared.

Regards.

Re: Changing source on TV using TiVo remote

Well I can access the source by holding the TV button but it's painfully slow to keep doing that to cycle through the options.

Couldn't get any buttons with arrows to help.

Has anyone got anymore info on this?

Thanks

You have got to remember the TiVO remote's primary purpose is to control the TiVO & not any anciliary equipment. Therefore any TV/Audio functions available are going to be basic. It is not designed as a universal remote, as this would increase the production costs.

Re: Changing source on TV using TiVo remote

I accept that but BoltonDave mentioned above that he could cycle through the source options using the directional keys.

I can't do this and was wondering if it was the same for others. Some have claimed that they have stopped using the TV Remote, I can only assume they don't have a teenager who needs to get to his XBox source NOW!!
