Cannot get V6 to output Dolby audio stream

Connected V6 to amplifier via HDMI
Amp is set to auto decode the input. 
Display shows as 'PCM' (2.0) sound is only from front main 2 speakers. 

If I connect another source (DVD for example) using the same HDMI input on the amp,
Display shows 'Dolby Digital' and sound is output to all (5.1) speakers.

The only setting I can see on the V6 for this is the sound setting:
"Dolby Digital" or "Dolby Digital & PCM" 
I have tried both with the same result. 
I cannot get the audio from the V6 to output as Dolby Digital. 

Can you offer any advise please?

The correct setting on the V6 is 'Dolby Digital' - but you will still get PCM on the SD channels and also ITVHD as that is how they are broadcast.

Best channels to check from are the Sky HD channels.

Oh really that's rubbish. The same channels on Freeview & Freesat decode to Dolby at 5.1.

I will test this out, but you are saying that all HD channels apart from ITV HD should output Dolby audio?

Hi ozsat is correct that if the channels are broadcasting in stereo, which ITV do permanently, they don't put out 5.1 that's what you will get, he is also right in to test properly go to Sky HD channels which nearly all in 5.1, I have a 5.1 system connected with a digital optical direct from my amp to the TV which works perfectly, if its in stereo I get sound to all 5 speakers but it's stereo, my amp is set to auto if the broadcaster is outputting in 5.1 it shows on the amp display, and I get sound in 5.1. Just to confirm, what @ozsat mentioned is correct - you will get PCM on the SD channels and also ITVHD as that is how they are broadcast.
