Cabling for Multi Room

been with virgin for about 2 years now, a friend gave me their old v6 box.

question is can I install this to run a second tv in my bedroom, I have run a coax cable up to my room from incoming point where virgin comes into my property via a splitter but I am not getting all the channels.

Do I need to have a multiroom subscription or is there a work around

many thanks Thelos

Re: Cabling for Multi Room

Your friend is not allowed to give you the box as it belongs to Virgin, Virgin will not activate boxes not supplied by themselves, eventually the box will cease working as a deactivation signal will be sent

Re: Cabling for Multi Room

you also should not install or modify the cable as you can not buy the cable VM use and any bad installs will affect not just your service but everyone in the area. If a problem is traced to you they may charge a costly fee for the fix.

Virgin boxes are rented, & are only authorised for use at the account address they are linked too. If they are moved somewhere else Virgins systems can detect this & disable them, as any use at another address could be fraudulent. The only way to get a second box is by contacting them & they will adjust your rental & send one out that is registered to your address.

Re: Cabling for Multi Room

One important fact that has not been stated yet - you should give the V6 back to your friend. He is liable for this rented equipment and will be charged for it if he fails to return it.

Re: Cabling for Multi Room

Hello thelos

Thanks for your post

Unfortunately the V6 box your friend gave you will sadly not work

Each box has a serial number which is assigned to an address

Should you wish to get a V6 box set up, then our Customer Service Team

Will be more than happy to help

If you can inform your Friend we need this V6 box back

A returns from can be located here virg.in/EQreturn

Regards

Re: Cabling for Multi Room

As you say you have a Virgin account the onus now may be on you to return an illegal box.
