Amazon app - has arrived on V6

The Amazon app has appeared in my 'Apps list' and is loading fine.

Programmes on Amazon are appearing in the V6 search menus and link to the app.

And subscribed Amazon channels, like Eurosport Xtra and MGM, are all streaming fine.

Re: Amazon app - has arrived on V6

I agree with @ozsat . The app is working well and fully integrated. I’ve been able to update series links for Absentia and Cloak & Dagger to access the current series of each, which are not available on broadcast channels yet.

The only issue I had was that, although I was able to use the app, it hadn’t appeared in the list of apps. This was resolved by restarting the V6. In addition, the app doesn’t appear in the list of apps in the Search & Discover part of the menu system.

Good to hear it's up and running, thanks guys.

Either of you happen to know if the app links with Alexa?

Not worried if it doesn't, just know the kids will ask me later!

Re: Amazon app - has arrived on V6

Shame it doesn't work on the Tivo box (my 2nd box). Need to upgrade, there is a charge of £134 unless there is a fault!

Any ideas on creating a fault?

Superb on V6 box

Re: Amazon app - has arrived on V6

That is a big let down - but after a call to VM somebody said there is already a fault raise and a fix on it's way.

Re: Amazon app - has arrived on V6

I've done a bit of testing and it looks fine. The screen's display resolution is 1080p24 for The Grand Tour season 1 Episode 1, don't understand why as it's a TV show and not a film. I then did a back-to-back comparison with my Amazon Fire TV Stick whose display resolution I'd set to Automatic to automatically use the optimal resolution of my TV, all content came to my TV as 1080p60. I haven't got the means to detect at what resolution Amazon Prime is streaming TGT to the Stick.

Another difference is that pressing a button on the Stick's remote gives the following information which isn't available on the V6:

  • Name of series
  • Season number
  • Episode number
  • Name of episode
  • Names and photos of each presenter

Both devices output Dolby Digital Plus as shown by my AVR.

It isn't a fault as the app is available only on the V6.

Re: Amazon app - has arrived on V6

I have the new 4K/HDR Firestick here set to use the resolutions set by the asset and not the tv.

On the Amazon Firestick - The Grand Tour switches the tv to:  3840/2160/25Hz/HDR

On the V6 the same switches to: 3840/2160/25Hz

Re: Amazon app - has arrived on V6

Unfortunately the sports like tennis and Eurosport are not too hot being 25Hz - you get a very fast stutter effect.

But this is also the case on the Firestick - something which needs sorting out before the Premier League later this year.
