Volume control just stopped working

volume buttons just stopped working on my 360 remote. light still comes on when you press either button, sound is still coming out but can't change volume. 

separate soundbar works fine and it's controls work, but I use the tv remote for my headphones, so can't change that whether headphones plugged in or not. 

tried remote factory reset., tv on off, 360 box off and restart, batteries out of remote.

never mind, it was the TV. Found the old remote for the tv which we haven't needed with the 360 remote, reset audio control directly, now works, not sure why but hey.
