Mute button - unmuting

Recently upgraded to 360 remote. Paired to Sony sound system. Same box has worked with the same TV and sound system for a couple of years without this issue.

Most of the time when pressing MUTE it mutes the sound, but then unmutes after 12-13 seconds. Oddly, it only seems to do this randomly as sometimes it mutes and stays muted.

I'm guessing it has something to do with HDMI.

I've reset the remote and re-paired it with no change.

 Suspect the Mute Button on the 360 Remote is sticking or failing.

Welcome to the community forums. 

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your mute on the 360 at this time. 

Do you have any issues when the sound bar is not connected at all? Do you notice any other issues with the volume buttons or other buttons on the remote at all?

I have the exact same problem with a Philips TV and Onkyo AV amp.  Did you manage to find an answer?
