Quick question and im off work and bored trapped in the house.Ive got a new mini box installation coming on wednesday upstairs back bedroom.

i couldent resist getting the tape measure out and my drill.so i drilled a hole to upstairs exactly where the box is going.my question is do they use mini trunking, clips or staples for the cable.id prefer staples personally to keep it minimal.

i threw in a diagram as well.

Hey @Dereklad,

Welcome back to the community and thanks for taking the time to post your query on the forum.

As @jb66 advised the technician would use staples to attach the cabling to the wall.

Let's just be sure of what has to be what.

1/

The mini-box in the bedroom must be attached to VM coax, just like the V6. Presumably your handiwork provides the route for the technician, who would attach the new coax to a splitter along with the other coax cables associated with your installation.

2/

If it was me, I'd have the technician run new coax round the outside of the house into the bedroom and I'd use the newly drilled route for an Ethernet cable to go from your Hub/router into the mini-box.  You'll need that to record stuff on the main V6.

Hope that helps!

Sorry i forgot to update this..

yes the virgin chap just used staples as i requested, neat and tidy..

he just used ancoaxel..

so what your saying is it needs ethernet cable also i dont get that part..

i havent asked my brother in the upstairs bedroom.but can he view my recordings off my main box in my living room on the mini box upstairs with just the coaxial installation.

the installer never mentioned nothing about an ethernet cable to me.

If there is no Ethernet cable, WiFi will be used to make the internet connection and to allow the mini to communicate with the main TV 360.

Thank you for coming back to return the thread Dereklad!

Glad to hear the installation went well - are you happy with how it looks and how the mini-box is working?

As Ernie says the box will work via Wi-Fi if there is no ethernet connection.

The mini-box uses the hard-drive of the main TV360 box so any recordings will be stored on the main box, but accessed via the mini-box. We have lots of help and Frequently asked questions you can find for TV360 and the mini-boxes here.

Please do let us know if there is anything else we can help with!

All the best.
