Disappearing Standby light

spear
On our wavelength

When I use my 360 box using a Wi-Fi connection everything works normally, but when I make the connection using the Ethernet cable there seems to be a problem. It still works as far as normal TV and Wi-Fi functions, but both the ‘On’ light and standby light goes off after a few hours.

I’ve checked the ‘Network’ ‘Diagnostic’ settings and everything has the green ticks. I also have more than one cable and both have the same result.

I have tried resetting the box with the Ethernet cable connected, it makes the cable connection without any problem but the lights still go out after a few hours.

Would appreciate some advice on this.

Thanks

Have you tried Pressing HOME > Settings > System > Standby Power Consumption, change this to fast start.  Also if you swap between WiFi and Ethernet you will need to change this in HOME > Settings > Network > Change connection type

Mine hasn’t had a single light on my box for about a week new - ever since they changed it from blue to red! Doesn’t matter if it’s on or off there’s not a light on it

Was like that before the light changed colour in my case.

Hi @spear,

Welcome back to our Community Forums! Thank you for your post.

I'm sorry to hear that this is an issue that you're experiencing! Is it just the light that's an issue when you connect your TV 360 via the Ethernet, or are you having any other problems when you're connected via the Ethernet?

Please let us know so we can look into this further.

Thanks! 🙂

Yes, it's just the light that is the issue.

Thank you for your response @spear.

Does the issue persist after rebooting your box? https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-tv-restart-or-reset-your-box#tab2

Please get back to us when you can.

Yes, I unplugged the power cord from the back of the box. I decided to try it again just to be sure, but as stated earlier the light only disappears after a number of hours. This is the strange thing about it, the stand-by light and the on/off will illuminate but then will stop functioning hours later.

Thanks'

Hi. I already use that method to change from wi-fi to ethernet.

I have changed to 'fast start' as you suggest, will let you know how it goes.
