Voicemail delayed notification

I notice that there is often a delay of between 36 and 48 hours between a caller leaving a voicemail message and this being notified by the appearance of the interrupted dialling tone.  Is this a general fault or something specific to my line, which I think would be unlikely?  It rather defeats the point of having the VM voicemail service, so is there any way of turning it off so I can just use the normal answerphone on my handset?  Two questions, I appreciate.

Re: Voicemail delayed notification

Hi ianbar,

Welcome to the community.

The dial tone should change as soon as someone has left you a voicemail.

How often is this happening?

When you dial 1571 with a normal dial tone are there new voicemails waiting?

Speak soon

Re: Voicemail delayed notification

Hi Rose,

"The dial tone should change as soon as someone has left you a voicemail."

That is my understanding too.

"How often is this happening?"

I would estimate on about one in three occasions.

"When you dial 1571 with a normal dial tone are there new voicemails waiting?"

I wouldn't have any reason to dial 1571 if I didn't have the interrupted dial tone, so I can't say.

Regards

Re: Voicemail delayed notification

Thanks for your reply.

I have just checked your voicemail and I can see that its been set up correctly so I'm not finding any problems at the moment.

I'd recommend monitoring your line and letting us know if this happens again.

We'll need the dates and times that you noticed this happening so we can raise this for you.

Kind regards

Rose

Re: Voicemail delayed notification

Thank you.

Latest example:  Voicemail time stamped at 1701 26 November.  No interrupted dial tone present when line used at 1440 27 November but heard when call made at 1458.  Voicemail retrieved successfully. Not quite as bad as previous examples but still nearly 24 hours between message being left and notification.  Hope this helps the promised investigation.

Re: Voicemail delayed notification

Did the promised investigation take place?  The fault is still occurring.
