Polycom SoundStation 2 on VM VOIP

Hi

I recently had VM Broadband and Telephone installed.

The analogue conference phone (Polycom SoundStation 2) I have used to work perfectly however on the VM VOIP solution it can only make outbound calls, but cannot accept incoming calls.

I suspect this is due to the way the phone detects an incoming call, which is now different via the Hub 3.0.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? 

It seems most analogue hardware should have backwards compatibility.

Hi John,

I purchased a basic phone (BT Duet 210) to test and this works perfectly when connected to the line.

Interestingly, when the Polycom SoundStation is reconnected alongside the basic phone, the basic phone stops ringing as well.

Hi harkeruk,

 

I've managed to look further into with assistance with IT and it would appear that this phone model would only be compatible with copper phone lines.

 

There is no fix that we would be able to perform from on our side

Thank you for investigating this for me, I appreciate having an answer regardless.

Are you able to share from a technical stand point why it is incompatible? (for awareness if selecting another phone and general curiosity)

Is there any guidance on compatible products you can point me to?

Thanks for your response.

 

I wasn't issued with a reason why this is incompatible with the services.

 

What I would advise is that if you were to purchase a brand new handset this would be prepare for advancements in technology that will take place over the next couple of years, but I would advise keeping the receipt of your purchase, just to be on the safe side.
