Malicious caller wont hang up

Currently unable to use my land line phone as received call from mobile number.  answered call - heard ringing as if id called out.  hung up, but now when try to user phone, there is no dial tone, just 'quiet;, as if caller from last call had not hung up and im stuck on that last call.  Virgin web chat busy, as always.  Is there any way to get this call disconnected?  also, any way of receiving caller id from call so i can report for malicious use?

Hi there j_b71, 

 

Welcome to the Forums and thanks so much for your first post. 

So sorry that your line was still connected to a caller - this can happen occasionally from these sort of calls - you can manually disconnect the call by unplugging your handset for around 10-15 minutes and plugging it back in. This should disconnect the line for you.
