I have a couple of Nokia 3310's I found in a drawer, they were mine and my missus's phone, back in the day. I want to get 1 working, just for ha ha's, as I like retro tech. I got a new battery and 1 of them works, but the thing is it's locked to VM, I tried some of the free Nokia unlock codes but they don't work. So I thought the easiest work around would be a VM pay as you go sim, but they don't do them anymore. So I have a couple of questions, will an O2 sim be recognised by the phone as VM (O2 still do PAYG sims), and/or can VM unlock the phone for me?

Thanks Andy Mackay.

Hi Andy thanks for your post to us - the phone model that beats the test of time!

Do you know if the physical handsets themselves were purchased directly from us, and if so were they in your name at all?
Many thanks

No, we bought them from a store, can't remember which one, they were pay as you go, if that helps.

Cheers.

If it is the original 3310 then getting the codes will be a problem as we are looking at a 20,+ year old phone manufactured by a company that has changed hands twice since.

Your best bet would be one of the phone stores that specialise in unlocking as they have access to software which will aid the unlocking process
