terrible customer service

went on line to purchase a simcard contract, entered all details for bank etc, then crashed and don't know status of order etc, customer service tell me have to wait for the 'back office' to contact me, when who knows !!!! meanwhile they have my details etc. which makes me nervous, and what is the back office, how can virgin not have somebody there to fix the issue.... I have to wait for a 'person' to contact me... this is ridiculous

That's going to be the admin team who pick your order up and sort it - because hey guess what - now and again technology BREAKS!

Just chill out - they are back in tomorrow - how this can be terrible is beyond me - but I'm not you.
