porting a mobile number while under contract

Hi all,

I just wondered if somebody can tell me if the following is possible:

I am just over a month into my VM contract which includes a sim only deal. When I signed up to virgin mobile I ported my number from another provider. However, the reception on EE (virgin) where I live is worse than useless and it's impossible to use the phone from home. What I would like to do is get a new number for my virgin phone and port my existing number to another provider that has a better reception so that I can use the phone from home.

Would it be possible to do this?

Thanks

I'm afraid not. The way the porting system is set up once the number transfers the old account closes.

Same for all networks

Ok. Thanks for the reply.

As my sim only deal is part of a package along with broadband, phone and tv, would I be allowed to cancel my sim only part of the contract and port the number to another provider if I still pay the full amount for my package?

Being also honest 😆

I have not seen it come up before - so have not learnt any info on it yet.

Guessing, phoning in about it and asking will most probably be a no, as it will take part of the package away which could up their revenue from you with out of allowance stuff.

Believe the best starting point on this, would be to send a text "INFO" to 85075, Virgin's system will reply with a figure of any charges for finishing early, or request the PAC by text which also will also show charges included - if you do not use PAC, it will just run out of date after 30days and nothing will change.  https://www.ofcom.org.uk/about-ofcom/latest/media/media-releases/2019/end-it-with-a-text-mobile-swit...

Re: porting a mobile number while under contract

Just edited my post above 🙄

It said: "if you use PAC - it will run out of date"

Now edited to correct info saying "if you do NOT use PAC, it will just run out of date after 30days and nothing will change."
