Wrong format numbers in Iphone SOLVED

ResidentRob
Tuning in

Hi All

Here is the 100% guaranteed fix

1st off the issue is NOT in the phone or the network provider. Most of us use Icloud to back up our phone numbers and that is the problem

On your computer goto icloud . com and log in

open Contacts then at the bottom left of the screen click on the cog for settings then select preferences

In here look for Formats and see which country it is set to. Obviously for us in the UK we want United Kingdom not United States. Once changed click save

Now restart your phone and hey presto ALL FIXED

Good Luck All

Would be great but .... when I went to icloud etc, my preference was already set to UK and my numbers are still wrongly formatted.

Try this

  • Select Settings from the Home Screen
  • Select Mobile Data
  • Select SIM Applications
  • Select Roaming
  • Select Select Mode
  • Select Manual
  • Select national
  • Reboot phone

Tried both suggestions, but iPhone still not sorted. Another iPhone in the household (same model) does not have this problem and works ok!

Hi nancledre,

Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear you're still having this issue.

To confirm have you been able to try both suggestions? The one from ResidentRob & Enlli?

^Martin

Yes Martin, both tried

Apologies about that @nancledre

Can you confirm the Format is listed as United Kingdom?

Thanks,

Hi Sofia,

For good measure I have just tried both options again and still no joy

Alf

Sorry to hear the issue is ongoing @nancledre.

In this case, are you able to try:

  1. Sign in to your Apple ID account page
  2. Scroll to the Account section, then click Edit.
  3. Click the Country/Region menu

And let us know what country your device is set to?

Thanks,

When I follow the link in 1. above, I do not see an account section.
So I logged into my icloud account and can confirm in preferences format is United Kingdom. I also tried ticking and unticking automatically format.... and rebooting mobile both times - no joy.
