Text messaging service not available

Hi

The following all relates to the use of my samsung mobile phone using a virgin sim card with adequate data and text allowance.

At 10.47am on saturday 5th March I successfully sent a text message via my samsung mobile phone. Using the virgin sim card a opperation I have succesfully carried out on numerous occassions for the last two years.

I received a reply at 13.32.

I sent a text message reply a few minutes later.

Alert appeared

 SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE.

How come I have a signal.

Tried to send message. It would not send.

Have tried on numerous other occassions but will not send text message.

During this period I have recieved text messages but I have not been able to send.

WHY?

My package includes umlimited texts.

Welcome to the Community Forums! Thank you for your first post.

I'm sorry to hear you've been having issues sending text messages from your Virgin Mobile SIM. There's just a few things I'd like to check with you so we can figure out what's causing this:

  • Are you having issues sending text to a specific number, if so what type of number? E.g a shortcode number, mobile number, international ect
  • Are you unable to receive incoming text messages?

If you could also provide a screenshot of the error you're receiving, that would be great.

Hi Beth.

The mobile number is the normal uk type number.

I do not do internal numbers.

I am not a prolific user of text messages

And have been using this number for at least rwo years without a problem.

Mobile reception is poor where I live so I check for signal before sending texts. 

As I said in my orignal posting I am receiving incoming text messages.

The message states that the service is currently unavailable.

By the time I do a screen grab the message disappears.

Does this occur when sending messages to other numbers or does it occur only with this specific number? Also, how is your service with inbound and outbound calls?
