Terrible mobile internet connection, tried restarting phone, installing signal booster apps etc.

No joy. Any ideas, I have next to zero chance of connecting using my data.

Hi @Jv2,

Welcome to our Community Forums and thanks for your post.

I am sorry to hear you're having some issues with your mobile data.

Have you taken a look at the troubleshooting steps here to see if that helps? We also have some more self care checks here

If this doesn't help, we can certainly try ordering a replacement SIM for you.

Let us know.

Do you mean "poor coverage" or "poor data speeds regardless of coverage"?

The two are very different.

"Signal booster" apps are generally a waste of time.

I have tried the steps mentioned before asking on here yes.

My sim card is around two years old

Thanks for checking that @Jv2

Could you just clarify what japitts has asked?

Further, are you having these issues outside your local area?

Poor coverage in all areas, even in my town centre which has had good coverage before.

I know someone else who has a new sim card and has had the same so I don't know if it's worth me getting another sim, not sure what to do

We're eager to look into this further for you Jv2 and I will send you a Private Message to get some more details from you.

We look forward to hearing back from you 🙂

Tuning in

I am with o2 proper for mobile, the signal is terrible in Bham, 5g is fine, but once its 4g I get < 1MB speeds to the point apps are saying no internet connection on full signal, I have to knock it down to 3g to get some decent speeds even then its slightly better.

There is apparently a mast down but its been down for 3 months with no end in sight, I have put in a request for early termination of the contract with no exits (after a little bit of fighting)

Glad to be rid.... but I will miss the Volt benefits...

This issue looks to be widespread... I think the whole network is oversubscribed and the only way to resolve this is to make 5g more common in areas... get out if you can.

Not at all. The way to resolve congestion/oversubscription is to add more capacity, whether that is on 4G or 5G or a combination. In other words, 5G is not necessarily always the answer - additional 4G is quite capable of resolving issues just as well.

You will be inherently limited by the spectrum available to the operator, and the config available on individual sites.

Same old problem - the country's way over populated is what I think
