Switching to 5G

So I've had my current mobile & sim for a while (2017), I'm currently on a rolling sim only deal and have just ordered a new 5G mobile (Samsung S22) to buy outright, I'm guessing my current sim isn't 5G compatible but when I try to upgrade online it doesn't give me the option of the 5G plans, do I need to register somewhere that my phone is being upgraded to get a 5G sim so i can then also get a 5G plan?

Welcome to the community!

I recommend letting us know if you have any issues connecting to 5G once you have the handset and have inserted the SIM card, you might find that you have no issue connecting to the 5G with the sim you have now. Also, to make you aware that not all areas have 5G access yet. You can check your coverage on here if you have an O2 sim.
