I have recently purchased an additional SIM card to use basically as a back up phone.
I have literally so far only given the new mobile number to two of my elderly relatives but in the last two days I have received two obvious scam calls and one obvious spam text.
Any idea how on earth the scammers have obtained the new number?!

Hi Gornam2,
Thank you for your post. The number you have won't be a brand new number.
It would be a recycled number. When a customer changes their number for scam calls they are taken out of service for a period of time as to deter any further scam calls.
After that period of time they would be reintroduced back into service for other customers to use.

Hi Martin
Thank you for your quick reply.
If I continue to receive scam call/ spam texts how do I go about getting a new number?
Many thanks
