Slow Data/4G Speeds

Tuning in

Hi. I have an iPhone 11 and am on a contract with Virgin mobile sim only. Since about a month or so ago, my 4G speeds have been consistently poor, and I'm talking 1-3 mbps max download speed. It isn't an issue with the area, because the speeds were fine before this, and I also tried my fathers 4G sim in my phone and got speeds upwards of 30 mbps. I have called their helpline a few times, done all their tests and they told me last week that I'd get a call back by a specialist, which I haven't yet received. The guys on the phone weren't very helpful, just told me to reset my network settings which I'd done so prior to calling them. If anyone can tell me whats wrong with my phone and what I need to do to fix it, I'd appreciate it. Cheers

Likely due to your sim being migrated away from EE and on to Vodafone.

Virgin really need to make people aware of what they are doing.

Thanks for the reply! Makes a lot of sense now. Quick question, how come my Dad's sim is still giving him EE speeds when he's on a Virgin contract too? Could it just be that they haven't updated his sim to Vodafone yet? He has an iPhone 8

Pretty much yes, there is varying factors around the migrations, something that seem to trigger the transfers us changing plans, replacement sims, using new devices and using 5G devices, however I think now everybody is getting transferred over bit by bit.

Yes you've definitely helped thank you very much. I only joined Virgin because they piggybacked off EE so I'll probably transfer out now

Yes exactly what happened here haha. I'm on my way out now need that speed back

Sorry to hear that miharbi91, have you spoken to the team to request the account be closed?

Rob

I guess they don't need to unless they're still in contract, as they can just text for a PAC to transfer there number out and close the account.
