Sim won't work in new phone

Hi, 

I gave my son a used but factory reset S7 edge to replace his broken phone but we cannot get his sim to register on the network  it just keeps coming up as 'network unavailable' please help

sounds as though its locked to another network - resetting it will not clear that - if thats the case you need to get it unlocked

I did think this, it was given to me a little while back  Would it not tell me though? How can I find out which network it's locked to?

HI Steviepnufc, 

Sorry that the handset seems to be locked, I can appreciate you're keen to give your son a working phone. 

If it's not our handset then we'd have no way of knowing which network it's locked too. 

Do you have one of our Purple and one of our Red SIMs? If so is it possible to test them both in the handset to check they don't work? 

If not then you'd need to try a few other network SIM cards in the handset, you can usually pick up PAYG SIM's at 99p each to test. 

I hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

Hi Emma, 

Thanks for your reply, it WAS locked to O2. I've just replaced the phone, never mind!
