Both my wife and myself are unable to send texts from Barbados. Getting failed message. We have received the welcome message from VM and are connected to Digicel
Any support would be much appreciated
Neither of us can make an outgoing call either.
We get asked if we want to use Home or Roaming (+32 or +16)??????
Does not make sense and we're not happy that we have no means to call home for 2 weeks.
Can't even dial 789.
It asks if we want to dial +32789 or +16789.
Thanks for contacting us regarding this.
When you arrive in the country and roaming is active you will receive a text message. As you have received this text it would confirm that the roaming is active.
We would recommend trying a different network to see if anything changes.
We have no control over the network since you have left the UK.
+32 = Belgium code?, +44 is UK
+16 = no such country code. https://www.quora.com/What-country-has-an-area-code-16
If trying to text/ring UK numbers, does this help https://www.prokerala.com/how-to/call/united-kingdom?from=barbados
Have a look at the screenshot I've added.
Also, when I look at the message centre number I have this:
What should it be?
Belgian programmed Proximus SIM cards and roaming as if you were a Proximus customer it seems.
+447958879890 is Virgins SMS centre number. Don't know if you can change it.

OK. Changed the number and texts are no longer failing. Can't confirm if they're being received at the other end though.
Is there a solution to get calls working?
Can't believe I've been fobbed off by VM.
Email to CEO office might be the only way forward.

What happens if you select your home country as Belgium but dial uk by manually typing in the number in +44 format?
