Roaming Can’t find network - Tenerife

On our wavelength

We have arrived in Tenerife and we followed the steps before we left but neither of our phones can find a network.

my wife had the same issue in September. 

many advice how to fix this or is there an issue with Virgin in Tenerife??

With an iPhone try doing this

  • Select Settings from the Home Screen
  • Select Mobile Data
  • Select SIM Applications
  • Select Roaming
  • Select Select Mode
  • Select Manual
  • Select International
  • Reboot

Set back to Automatic on return

HI kylefaichney, thanks for the message and sorry to hear about the roaming issues, just to confirm you activated the roaming while in the UK and the roaming is enabled in the settings on the handset? Chris. 

Yes I followed all the guides before we left. 

roaming is on

int call barring off

requested up to date settings from 789922 

iphone data roaming is on.

we did the same in October but had no network then either contacted customer support on return and they said there was no issue. 

So we are really annoyed it’s the same issue, we can access WiFi here but having no network/mobile data is frustrating. 

Can you confirm if they are both on the Virgin network, and if it was Tenerife which you had an issue with last time? ^Chris

Yes both virgin mobiles and yes it was Tenerife

Can you confirm what both handsets are  and if they are both on the Virgin Mobile network? - Chris

Can you confirm if you have also done what enlli has suggested? Do you have access to the online account to see if the roaming is switched on? ^Chris

after a wait of 20 mins it finally has worked.

not sure what this did but it seems to have forced the local network through. 

many thanks for your help. 

I would ask VIRGIN to add this to your settings guide.
