Can I order a replacement sim card but not deactivate my current one until it arrives?
my current sim only works sporadically but I don’t want to be without service until a new sim arrives.

I'm very sorry to hear about the issue with the Mobile service.
We can certainly look to get you a replacement SIM card if needs be.
Can you confirm if you're having the issue with signal drop in multiple locations or just one?
