Refreshing sim data message

I keep getting a small black box popping up saying 'refreshing sim data'. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm on my home WiFi, works WiFi, or using data. In some cases when gaming it has actually stopped the connection with the games server and so has dropped me out of the online game. 

I had this same thing soon after getting the phone (would pop up 5+ times a day) which was improved when I was sent a new sim (saw it as about once every 2-3 weeks at most) . But it is now happening 5+ times a day again.

Why has this started happening again please?

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community. 

I'm really sorry to hear that you're getting this error message, I can appreciate the frustration. 

I'd also like to apologise for the delay in getting back in touch, we have been busier than usual. 

 

If you're experiencing this as an error message could you please try the below steps:


-Manual network search and choose any other network except Virgin or EE e.g., O2, Vodafone etc. (will tell you unable to connect or show no service) 


-Switch handset to 2G only. This can usually be found by going to the "settings" option within the menu of your phone 


-Then manually search again and choose Virgin 


-Then set back to 4G 

 

Keep us posted with how you get on with that.

for a week now i keep losing Virgin network. purely by fluke i noticed the sim refreshing message yesterday. After lots of searchig and recommended fixes, re networks and changing it, i now try to go bak and Virgin isnt even listed anymore. Yet when i look at coverage it says its fine in the EE site

i have tried all manner of rebooting phone including turning it off, flight mode, taking out reinserting sim card, doing the 2g thing etc

It did work fine for a few weeks, i am a newish virgin mobile user, akthough i was in EE for many years, then i moved to gaff gaff for a couple of yrs

i left the phone off for a few minutes and tried again now i do i do get 3 and viring appear along with o2 and vodaphone, however after selecting virgin it says 'registering on virgin', then after a while comes back with 'unable to connect try later'

i am all ears looking for help please.

sometimes it shows as registered to virgin, then i do a test dial to my house number then it suddenly says out of range or not registered or something similar.

This is getting far to regular now to be a usuable service for me to have.

you sent me a new sim over night, but still i was getting emergency calls only message. I was informed however they was working on my local cell tower for another 3 days. That was a week ago though. This morning i awoke to find yet again i cannot use virgin sim card as it said emergency calls only. A couple of hours after noticing the message it did return to the Virgin text. I literally just looked again and says emergency calls only again. However even that it seems is not always what it appears. Yesterday i had a Doctors appointment, ( all over the phone nowadays of course, and had waited 6 days for it ) even though clearly it said VIRGIN on the top right, it seems the doctor actually rang me twice yet i never received either one of the calls and or got a message telling me i missed them, I did get a later call from the reception to chatise me for missing my appointment, and to make another appoint in 2 weeks. Weird how that call came through but the more important DOCTORS ones didnt. I am also getting someone on O2 sim saying they try me and cant get through on the odd occasion, and having to resort to ringing my house phone. I can't say i had any of these problems on giffgaff, or with Orange ( then EE ) itself for many many years. so i am a little lost as to why this is happening. Yes its an old phone as in a samsung s6 edge, but it worked fine on other carriers, even though virgin does use the EE network

I am sorry to hear your still having issues, are you able to try the sim in a different phone just to rule this out?
