Porting number is not being updated for iMessage

Hi There, 

I was using lyca and last month switched to virgin keeping my old number but unfortunately I won’t able to retain my number for iMessage or iCloud. On my device the mobile number says different. 

I’ve tried to reach customer support couple of times but no luck. Can you please help me with this.

It confirmed today. 
I’ve tried every step. I can’t even change my number manually in settings.

If you search "my number" in your settings it should let you update this here.

 

Are you getting an error message when trying to do this?

 

If you then go to iMessage it will show what numbers / emails can receive imessages so you can un tick any incorrect ones.

I've tried re-entering my number again and again. It shows no error but just the temporary number.

Okay thank you.

 

As the port only happened today, I would advise to wait 24hours, turn the phone off and on again and then try to change the number again.

Some of us on another forum have sussed this (It's not confined to Virgin) It seems when a number is overridden on a SIM card during a PAC iOS carries on using the original number. Sometimes this rights itself after a week or two.

Inserting a blank SIM which is then programmed with the new number and it works first time!

I can, but any iMessage and FaceTime use my ID not my number. 

I have tried resetting several times. Nothing is working.
