Phone tethering to car

Hi, I have a virgin mobile sim as part of the Oomph media package.

My toyota car media system has the facility for connecting to WiFi mobile using hotspots/ tethering. I have followed the instructions to do this but with no success.
I have set the phone to mobile hotspots and switched on data use as outlined in the manual, and in car settings I have switched on WiFi. It automatically searches but does not find the phone only nearby neighbour's routers.
There is also a manual option and this is where I'm getting lost.
It asks for network name and password.  What would these be for the phone?

To tether the phone you need to set it up as a WiFi hotspot. The name and password will be what you set at the time.
