Phone Number Deactivated?

I left the UK a couple of years ago. When I did I switched my pay monthly to pay as you go, as the virgin service rep told me I could keep my number that way and only pay for what I used. I am now returning to the UK and have been told by customer services that my number has been deactivated and I cannot get it back. I had that same number for over 20 years and specifically moved to pay as you go so that I can keep it.

Is there any way to get the old number back? HELP!

Re: Phone Number Deactivated?

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but the answer is no. Once a number has been deactivated because of non use it is returned to the originating network and, after a period of time, reissued.

After 2 years there is simply no way to get it back. The PAYG phone needed to make a call or send a text around every 6 months to stay active.

Re: Phone Number Deactivated?

Thanks for the reply. This is a real shame. Better make sure my wife uses hers before we are both robbed of our numbers Smiley Sad
