Orange F in France

 Hi,

My Nokia 3 phone will not connect to Orange F in France. This is the best signal, but when I try to connect manually it is marked ' Forbidden'.

Any answers?

Thanks

Re: Orange F in France

it will only connect to what virgin moblie agreed to eu networks and if they are maxed out with people connected to it in france some times it will connect to next one thats not maxed out on people on the network and you can't change that Orange F is most biggest mobile phone provider ands its maxed out i think they transfer to lowerest big network with uk moblie numbers and i think it joins SFR

Re: Orange F in France

Thanks David,

You are right I am usually able to connect to SFR , which is only 3G and usuable outdoors.

However, my wife's phone is a Samsung A3 and she is also on Virgin in the UK, but her phone connects fine to Orange F in France.

So I hope there is still a solution for my phone...🤔

Re: Orange F in France

The difference between the two SIM's could be because one is the old red SIM (pre December 17) running on the EE system, the other SIM maybe the new purple one (Dec 17 onwards) running on Virgin's own system, different roaming contracts?.

Re: Orange F in France

Hi Teabag,

That could be the explanation , since Virgin gave me a new SIM when I changed from pay as you go to contract early this year. I wonder if they read these comments and will they offer a solution  ?

🤔

Re: Orange F in France

There have been a few posts about new SIM's only on 3g abroad, I'm sure it's been noted - but what they are doing about it?.

Looks like both are getting a bum deal at the moment, Virgin paying for 4g roaming and us paying Virgin for 4g roaming 😞

Re: Orange F in France

Hi Teabag,

Yes, I have just spoken to Virgin with your suggestion and they have admitted that cards issued in January and February this year have experienced problems abroad.

They are sending me a new SIM which they assure me will work.

I should be in France again in a few weeks, so I will add to this thread with an update.

Happy days 😉

Re: Orange F in France

Hi Peteru,

I'm sorry that your roaming service wasn't working the last time you travelled abroad. Please let me know if your new SIM works when you travel abroad again. If you are still having problems with it on your next trip, please send me a private message by clicking this link: PM me here and provide the following details:

  • Full name on the account
  • Mobile number

Kind Regards,

Terri

Re: Orange F in France

I have been in France for nearly a week and I am unable to use my phone to phone/text or for internet. I have a Lenova A.

I was able to connect to Orange on my first day but since then have been unable to connect to orange as it states it is forbidden. FSFR states it can not connect now.

Virgin have not been helpful and just say it is not their problem but the other networks.

Any suggestions how I can fix this?
