Re: OUT OF DATE?

There are several versions of the J3, so the one that is currently on sale may not be the same as the one you have.

However the main factor for your bank is the version of Android on the phone, more than the physical device. Which bank are you with?

Re: OUT OF DATE?

Seems strange. There are two Variants 2016 and 2017, so not that old compared to what is out there still running.

If anything I would have thought it would be down to your version of Android. What Version are your running

afaik the J3 can go up to android 7

Re: OUT OF DATE?

Hi to both of the people replying.

My phone is a J3 [16] - so not that "old" - it is still on sale from both Samsung and Virgin.

I have Android version 5.1.1. and is regularly automatically updated

If this phone cannot be updated to a better / later / higher Android and that is what is needed for the new banks online banking systems [e.g. Natwest and Skipton BS] why is it still being sold ????

Re: OUT OF DATE?

they will always sell lower end phones. its the banks that decide not to support the OS so no reason to not sell it.

As far as I can see, Samsung haven't released anything newer than that for the 2016 version:

The version currently sold by Virgin Mobile seems to be the 2017 version which has been updated to Android 8.0:
