We are in Italy and neither of our phones can get a service.
I’ve checked roaming is on and that international calls aren’t barred.
Never had a problem before in Europe and obviously can’t ring Virgin on the number they give! Why can’t they make is easy to email or online chat to get a fix!?

Not sure what phones you have but this sometimes works with iPhones
Settings > Mobile Data > SIM applications > Roaming > Select Mode > Manual > International
Reboot phone
Set roaming back to Automatic on return.
If you are on Android there is SIM app that let's you do similar

Thanks for your post @Rudge1, and I'm sorry to hear of the issues with the mobile services.
Can you please confirm if you switched roaming on, on your handset and on your self-care account before leaving the UK?
Kindest regards,

Hi David,
Thanks for replying.
Roaming was on before leaving the UK, International call barring was off.

Do you possibly have any spending caps currently in place on the two accounts?
Have you been able to obtain any connection to the service in any other locations within where you're staying?
Kindest regards,
David

We may have spending caps in place, but won’t be any where near them.
We have been unable to get a service since landing at the airport and have tried repeatedly on the way to where we’re staying. Others on the coach were fine, but probably weren’t Virgin customers.
As I said, it’s never been a problem before when abroad, e.g. in France, Germany, Andorra, Austria and The Netherlands.

Do please follow the helpful advice from @enlli if applicable and see if this works for you on your handsets.
If this is not applicable with your handsets, or successful, do come back to me and we can at least check on our end to see if we have everything in place for the SIM cards to receive coverage
Kindest regards.

Just reset it to Auto when back in UK
Glad it worked
