New sim sent but not requested

Hi, I recently received a text from Virgin stating..

'We notice you have had trouble roaming in Channel Islands/Isle of Man.  We are sending you a new sim to fix this problem.'

At first I was worried that my sim had been compromised, as I have not been to either of those places, in fact I've not been anywhere recently.  A few days later I received an email stating I would receive a new sim in the next 3 days.  I have now received the new sim and it says I have 30 days to swop it over, before the old one will not work.

I already have a 4g sim, so why have Virgin sent another one?  I havent requested one and my current sim worked fine last year in Jersey!

Can you offer any help. Do I need to swop sims?

Is yours the old red SIM?

The new purple ones are the ones that have problems with Jersey 😁

Thanks. I have had the purple sim since June 2018.

I assume this means I do need to change to the new sim they have sent then?

Why do Virgin confuse matters by saying they notice I've had problems roaming, when I haven't!

Thank you for your post and our apologies for any confusion that has been caused. We can confirm this is legitimate and you have not been compromised, this could have been due to a recent location you was in even if you have not been recently roaming in Channel Islands/Isle of Man. However we would advise activating the new SIM.
