Hi there Teabag, i have checked this with one of my colleagues and as this seems to be something set within the handsets we are unable to stop these.
Obviously whatever it is in the handset it effects all versions of Andriod, iOS and Windows 10

The missed call SMS should only be sent if voicemail is not set up for both PAYM & PAYG customers.
I need to check a few more details with you about the missed call SMS's you continue to receive so our techs can look into this.

Nearly perfect now:
if someone calls me and does not leave a message, the missed call SMS have stopped, but if I reject the call - I still receive a missed call SMS :-(
The "you have new voicemail SMS" did take a few toggles on and off in the voicemail options, but it did eventually turn off OK.
Thanks for getting back to me. Our techs have asked for a few more details if you are still getting the Missed Call SMS's when rejecting calls:
Please check the voicemail number you access from your handset? (Call settings>Voicemail Settings)--with the Purple/Red SIM, it should be +447458333222.
With the old Red SIM, it should be +447953222222.
Next, please increase the rings for voicemail:
Dial **61* followed immediately by your voicemail number and ** 30 # followed by the Call or Send Key on the phone. This will change the number of rings to 30 seconds, which is the maximum.
