How do you unlock a phone locked to carrier

Hi

I have a old handset that is locked to virgin mobile. I want to use my sky sim in it on a temporary basis while my usual phone is getting fixed.

How do I get it unlocked so I can use it, at the moment if I put sim in it asks for sim (me) code.

It was a virgin network only phone purchased from Argos at least 5 years ago.

it is a Alcatel Pixi 4 model number 5010x.

Thanks Kelly, do you know if the handset was ever registered on your account? To be able to request an unlock code they sometimes need to be registered.

It isn’t my handset so was not registered to my account.

My mum purchased it for a Xmas present for my sister years ago, my sister took it out the packaging but never used it. So it was given to me when mine broke as I can’t afford to get mine fixed until after pay day on the 23rd December.
