Extend ring time before answerphone kicks in

As per the title. I have a Virgin sim and I want to extend the time it rings for before it goes to answerphone, as it is currently only about three rings.

The Help page here tells you how to do it:

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-mobile-voicemail

But inputting the correct code (the post-2017 code) results in an error: "Connection problem or invalid MMI code".

Any ideas?

I've just used the link and details provided and it worked for me, with the message Call forwarding Registration was successful. I set it to the maximum 30  rings.

I did have issues at first as a) It took me a while  to work out how to get the + symbol and b) i tried to set the ring to 60, as I hadn't noticed the maximum value was 30

OKAY. Sussed it now I think.

I got it to work using the 30 second code. I then tried again changing it to 20 seconds which was apparently successful.

Looks like you have to "set it up" first using the 30 second code and can then change it.

Seems a bit odd.

A couple of things to try

Make sure you are typing the code in (not copy and paste)

You could also try.   **61*+447953222222*11*30#

Dialing *#61# should report back with how long it is set at if you get lost 😉

Apart from that, a good time to request one of the new Virgin network SIM's.

Edit: just seen your already sorted 👍

thanks @newapollo. I too took a while to figure out the + sign!

I  tried it at least three times, checking I had it right and kept getting the same error.

I was trying to set it to 20 (which should work), maybe I will try 30.

Thanks @teabag. The *#61# check is useful (confirmed that I am set to 20 seconds).

I still can’t get this to work. I’m stuck at 20 secs. When I type *#61# I get

“Setting Interrogation Succeeded

Voice Call Forwarding

When Unanswered

Disabled”   on 4 lines. No mention of timing.

When I try the two long codes I get

“Error performing request

Network Failure

Setting Registration Failed

Voice Call Forwarding

When Unanswered “

I have an i-phone 7 plus.

Hi PDoorbar,

When did you last have a sim card from us, have you recently migrated over to our new sim?

is this the command that you have tried to use so far?

If you’ve had a new SIM since December 2017

To extend the ring time to 30 seconds, first enter this code into your phone: **61*+447458333222*11*30#. Next, press the call or answer key - your phone will do the rest.

You can alter this to ring for 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 seconds by replacing **30# with your choice of seconds. E.g. enter **15# if you want it to ring for 15 seconds. The most you can extend it to is 30 seconds.

Regards

Steven_L

I have had the SIM card for at least 4 years. I have not migrated to a new sim. I have used this and the other code. Neither work. I explained all in my last message.
