I noticed a very strange data usage on my daughter's account: 762.78MB at 7:00am.
I guarantee that my daughter did not use her phone at that time, because simply she is sleeping (and the phone is not in her room). In addition, the phone was home, so connected to the wifi.
Can someone help me understand where this data usage is coming from?
Thank you for your help.

Sounds like the phone dropped the wifi and did some sort of update
Thanks for posting, this could be a software update like jb66 has said.
Have you also set a spending cap to avoid any excess charges?

Thanks for the replies.
I do not understand as Automatic Updates and 'WiFi Assist' are both 'Off'.
'Automatic Downloads of Software Updates' is also set to 'Off'.
So what should I do?
In the meantime, my daughter's data is almost gone for the month, even though she needs data for her work.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks for coming back to me. Regarding the data usage, this is a lot of data to be used if no one is using the phone, and as you say 'Software updates' are turned off.
What phone is it please? Can I ask you to send a screenshot of the app section as it'll show me when it was last updated?
Thank you for your reply.
The phone is an iPhone 6s with IOS 12.1.3.
Can you be more specific on the screenshot of the app section you want me to send?
I've sent you one, but I'm not sure that it is the one you were expecting.
No no sorry,
If you go to the app section of the phone, and then go to updates, send me a screenshot of this please
Here is the screenshot of the update section.
Thanks for replying.
Can you click on settings, general and then background refresh and send us a screen shot
Thank you for helping Chris,
Here are the 2 screenshots of the background app refresh.
I can see that the "Wi-Fi & Mobile Data" is active.
May be I should activate only "Wi-Fi"?
