Easier way to cancel a pay monthly sim card

Hello, 

I have not been in the UK doe a while and decided that I do not need my virgin UK sim, I had not used in months but was paying the bills since they're charged automatically from my debit, when I wanted to cancel I saw that I needed to call which I couldn't do since I'm not in the UK and the calls are way too expensive locally, I tried using the app for the chat feature but not never works, it just gives nothing no matter how long I wait, is there a way to just cancel pay monthly account that doesn't involve me jumping through so many hoops, my other resort would be to just stop the paiment from my debit but I'd rather do it properly.
