I'm not sure if it's related or just the way Facebook display things on their site but they seem to think my number is with 3 (UK) not Virgin Mobile. Facebook are one organisation I'm not getting messages from.
For me the balance (from various banks) and iCloud OTP messages come through but Google verification messages are not received at all!
I think this might be with the way numbers are detected via the automated system, e.g. my phone number has been ported from O2 then to Voda and then to iD and now Virgin. The SMSC number is correct at +447458399008 and I am on the new sim.
However, these messages have come before instantly on your network and is a recent issue which has occurred in the last week or two. My last successful attempt to getting an Google code was on the 9th January, and I use this everyday. I have been having to confirm myself through data instead of sms.
Receiving messages from real people works though (thankfully).
As if by magic most texts from things like banks, Microsoft etc seem to be working fine today. There's a few minutes delay that I never experienced before but at least they come through and hopefully things settle down over the next few days.
The exception it seems is Google. I'm not recieving anything at all from them, like the previous poster. My number has also bounced around networks from O2, to 3 to Voda, Virgin, 3, Voda, Giffgaff, 3 Voda and Virgin again.
I have the same issue happening for a week now. Cant log in to bank, google or PayPal. Absolutely disgraceful. They sent me another sim but its the same thing. This has been happening at virgin since 2017. Why can't I get a network that just works.
Ok, so it's back to being a load of providers that I'm having issues with again. Texts from Microsoft, Google, banks etc all stopped working again. A real pain as I can't log in to some accounts because of it or complete First Direct verified by visa requests.
